And so begins one of the classic fairy tales, a coming of age story full of all the ingredients of a great Christmas show at The Dukes ? adventure, laughter, wonderful characters and drama. Join Belle, our heroine, as she leaves her family and ventures deep into the forest towards the magical castle. She enters through the gates and confronts the Beast ? a grizzly and gruesome creature, a lost soul in hiding from the world. Can the Beast soften and change during Belle?s stay in his home ? or is it Belle who must look beyond his grotesque appearance to what really matters? Following the knockout success of recent Dukes shows Treasure Island, A Christmas Carol and Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast promises a feel good seasonal treat full of illusions, songs and storytelling.? Please Note: This version of Beauty and the Beast is not a pantomime. It will be performed in The Round, the Dukes 250 seat studio theatre. With a cast of six actors, it will make an immersive show which takes schools and family audiences on a real adventure. Roles to be cast: BELLE: female, playing age mid-teens. A young woman brought up in a close family and now ready to spread her wings, travel the world and decide her own fate. Straight-talking, independent-minded, sensitive and fun. ?
