Discover the remarkable story of The Drifters and the truth about the woman who made them. From the highs of hit records to the lows of legal battles and personal tragedy, Faye Treadwell is the legendary manager of The Drifters who refused to give up on the group she
loved. Thirty years, and hundreds of hit songs later, there is no doubt that Faye Treadwell was and always will be, The Drifters Girl.
FAYE TREADWELL
Female Presenting, playing age 38-45. Black-Caribbean, Black-African, African-American.
A strong, feisty, independent woman who isn’t afraid of standing up for what she believes in. Sole Manager of ‘The Drifters’ after her husband’s death, she is a pioneering businesswoman who suffers no fools.
Vocal – Strong soulful voice Accent – Southern American Accent Vocal
Range – Low G up to D in full voice or strong mix. Ideally up to top G strong mix, but not essential.

Male presenting, playing age 38-45. Black-Caribbean, Black-African, African-American.
Four male actors play multiple Drifters across history. We require versatile performers able to play a variety of roles in different accents and styles. Good dance ability and very strong vocalists. High stamina essential, as all Drifter roles are very demanding both physically and vocally.
George Treadwell – George was the original manager of The Drifters and Faye’s
husband. After meeting and marrying Faye, the pair together then managed the group. Supportive husband and strong businessman, ability to charm with a caring personality.
Vocal Range – Strong lead vocalist, either very high baritone or tenor, able to sing in the style of The Drifters, and comfortable singing in 4-part harmony. All four Drifters need to be able to sing up to at least a G in full voice/strong mix. Falsetto a big bonus.
JOHNNY MOORE, GERHART THRASHER and others
Male presenting, playing age 30-40 Black-Caribbean, Black-African, African-American.

Johnny Moore – Johnny was originally a member of the band ‘The Hornets’ before
being discovered by George and Faye and becoming a Drifter. He was the lead singer for the hit records ‘Saturday Night At The Movies’ and ‘Come On Over To My Place’.
Vocal Range – Strong lead vocalist, either very high baritone or tenor, able to sing in the style of The Drifters, and comfortable singing in 4-part harmony. All four Drifters need to be able to sing up to at least a G in full voice/strong mix. Falsetto a big bonus.
CLYDE MCPHATTER, LOVER PATTERSON and others

Clyde McPhatter – Clyde was a key figure in the shaping of doo-wap and R&B. The
Drifters were originally formed to be backing singers for Clyde on songs such as ‘Money Honey’ and ‘Whatcha Gonna Do’. Clyde then sold his share in the group to George and began pursuing a solo career. Trailblazing artist with an insatiable thirst for success.

TINA TREADWELL
Female presenting, playing age 14-18. PLEASE NOTE : we are NOT looking for children under licensing age for this role. It is for a young adult to play down to age 14. Please do not suggest children – over 18s who will have left school only. Black-Caribbean, Black-African, African-American.
Tina Treadwell is the daughter of George and Faye Treadwell. She followed in the footsteps of her parents and went on to manage The Drifters, a role in which she remains today. The story of ‘The Drifters Girl’ centres around young Tina and her mother, Faye, discussing the story of The Drifters. This character is integral to the story but is not required to sing. Fun loving, inquisitive and sometimes a little cheeky.
